Which better describes how you came to Christ? Was it because some Christians were really smart and clever and won you over or was it because the God of history intervened in your life and you received His gracious gift of love. Your testimony isn’t about a church’s cleverness, it is about Jesus, Jesus, Jesus! Many churches have fallen under the delusion that the Great Commission was to be done apart from the power and leading of God and accomplished by their own strength and creativity. When Jesus looked out on the harvest fields in Luke 10 his command for us was to ASK! We are to ASK the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into HIS harvest field. We must ASK! Then as Jesus talks to His disciples he gives them specific instructions for that moment. Their faith and obedience to the leading of Christ is the key. The creativity or strength of the disciples is never the issue, it is their faith and obedience.
Looking upon the lost in His world, Jesus commands us to go to the Father and ask. Then Jesus gives instructions they were to obey. This model has not changed. So we begin by asking...
So I introduce to you the 10:02 Prayer Initiative. A brother in Christ once shared with me that a great way to remember to obey this command of Jesus is to use 10:02 AM or PM as a moment to pray each day for the harvest and workers for the harvest. If we are going to see lives changed it is by God’s power and plan so that is what we seek. We know that when we ask we must be ready to hear. So as we enter into a season of prayer we will not only ask, but we will listen.
The 10:02 Prayer initiative will begin June 3 and will end September 2. This will give us a time of simple yet direct prayer seeking the Lord’s plan for us as we join Him where He is already working. Think about this over the month of May and let us prepare our hearts for what God desires to do in our community as we come along side of lives He is touching.
